Colloquium: "Birth of a Dancing Nation: The Life, Writings, and Choreography of Ted Shawn"

Paul Scolieri, Associate Professor of Dance, Barnard College

Professor Scolieri’s research interests include global dance studies (especially Latin American and Caribbean dance); U.S modern dance history; movement theory and analysis; and performance studies. He is the award-winning author of Dancing the New World: Aztecs, Spaniards, and the Choreography of Conquest (2013) and is currently writing a critical biography of the Father of American Dance entitled Ted Shawn and the Invention of American Dance (under contract with Oxford University Press).
