Shakespeare at the Globe

Applications Due March 1st

WU Summer Program at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

Shakespeare at the Globe

Over four weeks, students will take two three-unit college courses taught by Washington University faculty members: one on "Acting Shakespeare" and one entitled "Shakespeare Performance Criticism." In addition, students will take master classes in acting, movement, voice, stage combat, theater history, and text taught by world-renowned artists and scholars (most of whom work at the Globe), and hear a variety of special lectures on Shakespeare and his age. Students see some seven theater productions – at the Globe, in London, and at Stratford-upon-Avon, where we take a three-day excursion, visiting Shakespeare's birthplace and other sites in addition to attending plays performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. All in all, it will be an unforgettable experience that will develop theater skills, advance  knowledge of Shakespeare and his times, and deepen the student's appreciation and understanding of Shakespeare in a nurturing and challenging community setting.

Summer 2014 program fee - $5,300
The program fee includes six units of Washington University academic credit; all classes, workshops and masters classes; accommodations with breakfast; theatre tickets to seven productions and an excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon.

The program fee does not include airfare, local transportation, other meals and miscellaneous expenses.
