Gifts such as yours support visiting artists, distinguished professors and events such as the fall 2012 Reperformance Symposium which featured the foremost scholars in restaging and reconstructing both dance and drama performances, and historical reenactments. Playwright Sarah Ruhl visited campus in April and presented the Helen Clanton Morrin lecture, “Micro-essays on Theatre, “ and met with the cast and crew of her play which was produced in Edison Theatre later that month, “In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play).” These and many other events bring together faculty, students, alumni and members of the St. Louis community to participate in conversations about the performing arts.
Contributions also provide scholarships for our summer programs in England and France, support students so that they may attend regional and national conferences, permit us to augment our technical capabilities, and help us market our productions and programs more effectively.
Friends of the PAD are generous donors of $50 or more to the Performing Arts Department. Benefits include invitations to lectures, colloquia, symposia, and other events and receptions. Contributions at specific levels may also be recognized with membership in University-wide giving clubs; for example, a donor of $100 will be acknowledged as a member of the WU Century Club and a donor of $1,000 a member of the WU Eliot Society.
