Insight Theatre Company's production of The Importance of Being Earnest, features Pete Winfrey as John (Jack) Worthing, a young man looking for nothing more than to marry his beloved, Gwendolyn Fairfax. After Jack's best friend, Algernon Moncrieff, discovers that he hasn't been telling the truth about his name, identity, or any of the important details of his life, Jack has to scramble to salvage the possibility of his engagement. The Importance of Being Earnest is a classic comedy of manners, brimming with wit, humor, and memorably absurd word play.
The show runs from Thursday, July 12th-Sunday July 22nd at the Grandel Theatre in Grand Center. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows are at 8pm. Sunday performances are at 2pm. Tickets can be purchased via Metrotix.
Winfrey recently made his sixth appearance in a Shakespeare Festival St. Louis mainstage production of Romeo and Juliet. playing both the Prince and Paris. The production ran from June 1 - 24, 2018. Previously, he performed in The Winter’s Tale, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the 2015 Education Tour, Twelfth Night, Othello, and The Taming of the Shrew. Other credits include Sweet Revenge (Upstream Theater), The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (Metro Theater Company), Bad Jews (New Jewish Theatre, St. Louis Theater Circle Award Nomination), The 39 Steps (Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble), and Parade (R-S Theatrics, St. Louis Theater Circle Award Nomination).
